Cumbernauld heroin dealer jailed

A CUMBERNAULD drug dealer has been jailed for four years and eight months.

41-year-old Mark Jones was caught with enough heroin and adulterants to produce £210,000 worth of street level heroin. He appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday, June 12 where he admitted being involved in the supply of Class A drugs.

Jones was arrested by Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency (SCDEA) officer as part of Operation Gator, and is the fourth member of the same drugs ring to have been jailed.

On Thursday, October 27 SCDEA officers, acting on a tipoff, intercepted Jones as he was driving in Cumbernauld. He admitted he had drugs in the car and was taken to Cumbernauld Police Office for questioning. The car was searched and two kilos of high purity heroin were discovered, along with the common adulterant. There was enough material to produce 21,000 doses of street grade heroin.
