Cumbernauld paedophile will not be jailed

A CUMBERNAULD paedophile, who downloaded some of the worst possible indecent images of young boys, has avoided a jail sentence.

Ian Wilson, (56) who had been out on bail, pled guilty at Airdrie Sheriff Court last month to a child pornography offence, and to carrying a lethal weapon in public.

The court heard that between February 10 and March 27, 2015, Wilson took or permitted to be taken indecent photographs of children. The offence happened at his then home in Glenacre Road, Cumbernauld. He was also found with a locked knife in public on March 29 2015.

Sheriff Morag Galbraith told Wilson: “This has been fully investigated and you are well aware of the difficulties that a conviction for these charges cause.

I am satisfied that there is an alternative to custody. You will be put on a two year community payback order, which will include supervision throughout.”

Wilson was also barred from having any contact with any children under-17 without consent or supervision.

He was also ordered to make all devices he uses capable of accessing the internet available for inspection. He was also banned from deleting any internet history.

Wilson, who has since moved to the Coatbridge area, was also put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for two years.
