Cumbernauld Specsavers staff raise £1000 for Alisha

The kind-hearted opticians coordinated a fundraising blitz in aid of a young patient who is currently battling leukaemia.

After her visit the team decided to host a week-long appeal for a charity of her choice, CLIC Sargent.

Alisha who is currently receiving treatment at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital – prompted staff to arrange a series of events in store including a ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’ competition, face painting, cycling challenges and raffles with prizes donated by local businesses.

Prizes included a shave and haircut from Guys Barbers in Cumbernauld town centre, a meal voucher for Milanos restaurant, a spray tan voucher from Siobhan Kerr at Diamond Beauty and a Shellac voucher from Diane Mcmahon at Forever Glam & Beauty among others.

At the weekend Peppa Pig visited the store. She was a firm favourite among the kids, particularly Alisha who was delighted to meet her animated friend in real life.

Antonia McNeill, store director at Specsavers Cumbernauld, said: ‘Alisha is a very special little girl and we are delighted to have raised money for such a worthy cause.

‘We had lots of very generous people in the store throughout the week enabling us to fill up our collection tins and donate a brilliant amount of money to CLIC Sargent”.

Alisha’s courage has already sparked a huge local fundraising effort, effectively launched by her sister Leah – who raised a fortune by volunteering to have her long hair cut for charity. Many other events followed.
