Cumbernauld Village pensioner rescued from fire

HERO firefighters rescued an OAP from a sheltered housing complex just minutes after putting out another unrelated fire in Cumbernauld.

The action packed shift saw the crew deal with two major incidents in the space of four hours overnight last Tuesday.

Watch Commander David Burns said the pensioner was only discovered when they arrived at the scene and was led to safety, and given oxygen and treatment for burns before going to hospital.
