Greenfaulds is set to have a new sub-post office within an existing business in Lochinvar Road.
Post Office bosses have confirmed that Greenfaulds Licensed Grocers will add an additional service at the retail counter from Tuesday, March 8.
The service will operate seven days a week up to 2pm on Sundays and aims to address of shortage of these facilities within this area.
Post Office field change advisor Angela Bettison said: “We recognised the gap in our existing Post Office branch network and are delighted to be opening a brand new local branch with extended opening hours to meet the needs of the community.
Jamie Hepburn MSP has welcomed the news.
He said: “It is vitally important for local people to have access to the type of service it will provide.
“This will make a big difference to customers.’’
Cumbernauld controversially lost its crown post office last year.
The service has now been incorporated into a branch of WH Smith downstairs in Cumbernauld Centre.
