Cumbernauld woman dies in road tragedy

A female motorist from Cumbernauld has died after colliding with a heavy goods vehicle in Dumfries and Galloway last Thursday.

Police have confirmed that the deceased is Patricia McAuslan (32).

Tragically, Miss McAuslan died when her Ford Focus collided with a Scania HGV on the A701 near Parkgate village at 5.40pm.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The 43-year-old driver of the HGV was uninjured.

Officers closed the road to examine the scene and have also appealed for witnesses.

No further details have been released by police.

The family of Miss McAuslan were too distressed to speak about this incident and have asked the media to respect their privacy at this time.
