Cumbernauld’s bumper bunny dies

A BUMPER bunny who won a legion of fans in Cumbernauld and beyond has died.

The News and Chronicle has learned that onetime Dullatur resident Humphrey passed away recently - much to the sorrow of his former owner Colin Dunigan, a private hire driver who now lives in Greenfaulds.

A house move was partially responsible for the fact that Colin needed to find Humphrey a new home - and he ended up with a caring family of pet owners in Errol Station in Perthshire. They recently found themselves having to make a heartbreaking call to Colin to let him know that his big pal was no more.

Humphrey, who weighed two stone and was 42 inches long, was Scotland’s biggest rabbit - and prompted total strangers to roll up at his home in the hope of catching sight of him in his mighty bulk.

Colin said: “It’s sad but at nine years old Humphrey lived 65 per cent longer than he was supposed to.

“He had a great life and he was a wonderful character.’’
