The company has taken over the service running from Condorrat to Monklands via the town centre following the collapse of former operator Henderson Travel.

But some users complain the last evening service from Cumbernauld leaves at 5.35pm, making evening visit and appointments impossible.

Meanwhile another firm McGill’s has taken over 20 other former Henderson Travel routes that had been previously subsidised by transport group SPT.

But the new arrangement is an interim measure, as services will only be finalised after a statutory tendering process.

DA Coaches owner David Arthur told the News: “It was pandemonium after Henderson closed, and we had a matter of hours to get a timetable together.;

“Now we have to strike a balance between what is ideal and what is viable, but we will be running the service that goes to Monklands with a later bus that leaves Cumbernauld at 7pm.”

The firm has been updating customers on it timetable plans via its Facebook page – and more details will be forthcoming shortly.

It has been granted a short notice application to start running a 047 from Monklands Hospital to Kirkintilloch and a X47 Cumbernauld express from Monklands

At the moment the 047 will leave Kirkintilloch at 10 past the hour heading for Cumbernauld, with the first bus leaving at 7.10am and every hour there after until 5,10pm.

Besides Facebook updates, timetables are posted in buses, and the firm says it will be printing leaflets “as soon as possible”.
