Hide AdNLC insisted that nursery provision in the area would be enhanced by the move and make it easier for children to adapt to primary education. The closure will also save the council £100,000
The proposal which was first mooted in October prompted howls of protest from parents who set up their own pressure group to oppose the move.
Called Making Waves, this was a nod to the controversial lighting approaches project in Cumbernauld which is costing NLC £963,000.
The group had the full backing of MSPs and councillors.
However, the closure now looks certain to go ahead.
