Date fixed for trial over death of88-year-old man
A Douglas driver who denies causing the death of 88-year-old pedestrian on the village's A70 Ayr Road on July 28, 2014 is to face trial at Lanark Sheriff Court next month.
At an interim hearing on Thursday 25-year-old David Sked of 7 Manse View Terrace, confirmed earlier pleas of not guilty to the charge that he drove without due care and attention and failed to notice Mr John Sykes standing behind his vehicle when reversing, striking him, causing him to fall to his severe injury and caused his death. Sked, an offshore worker, was excused attendance on Thursday. Trial was set for March 16.
