Director banned as transport boss

A Cumbernauld company has been refused an application to run HGVs.

Following a public inquiry in Edinburgh, Traffic Commissioner for Scotland Miss Joan Aitken refused the application by Food and Drink Logistics Ltd., of Napier Road, Wardpark North.

She concluded that the company was not of good repute and disqualified its director Allan Menzies from acting as a transport manager indefinitely.

The inquiry heard that Mr Menzies had been sequestrated since 2007 and was involved in a company which entered liquidation in 2010, but these matters were not disclosed on the Food and Drink Logistics Ltd application form, as required.

Miss Aitken said: “Mr Menzies is at the heart of what was so very wrong here. Notwithstanding all of his protestations, I am now in no doubt that he used his daughter to get a licence and that he is kidding himself to pretend that it was otherwise.”
