Drivers set for diversions

PART of Castlecary Road is to be closed for five weeks, meaning lengthy diversions for drivers.

According to North Lanarkshire Council, a 63m section of road between the Strathclyde Homes access road under the viaduct to the North Lanarkshire boundary is to be blocked off from Monday, March 14, to allow bridge works and road realigning in association with the M80 upgrade.

Vehicles on the south side of the closure will have to travel along Castlecary Road to the Old Inns slip road, then on the A80 to the off-slip to Haggs, east on the A803 to Bonnybridge Toll, south on the B816 Bridge Street and then west on Seabegs Road.

Traffic on the north side of the closure will use the same roads as above, but in the opposite direction.

The closure will come into force on Monday, March 14 and is due to last until Sunday, April 17. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Drivers heading for Cumbernauld Village will also be affected by roadworks next week.

The A8011 Wilderness Brae southbound off slip to Cumbernauld Village will be closed from next Monday, February 14 to Friday, February 18, for bridge joint replacement work.
