From the editor’s chair

THE M80’s a busy road, and, as the nights are drawing in, an increasingly dark one on my commute home.

Monday night was particularly nightmarish. Huge puddles of water on most minor roads, driving rain and headlight dazzle adding to the mix, and a fair old wind blowing.

Paul Ward, who runs Cumbernauld’s own weather station @CumbernauldWx on Twitter, was predicting 8.8 mm of rain yesterday (Tuesday), which makes me very glad to work indoors. But it reminds me of a city break my family took to Dublin once, where we toured the city in an amphibious Duck.

We roared around the city – literally, we had to pretend to be vikings at various stages and yell at passers by – but also safely drove into the River Liffey at times to see the world from the water.

I’m tempted to make a plea to head office for an amphibious company car.
