“In North Lanarkshire we continue to make year-on-year improvements in the number of pupils leaving school with either academic qualifications or vocational ones.

“These improvements are down to the considerable hard work of our pupils and teachers. In addition, the number of pupils from North Lanarkshire leaving school and moving on to education, employment or training is at a five year record high.

“Between 1 August 2011 and 31 July 2012, 3519 pupils left school and 3074 (87.4%) were successful in moving to a positive destination.”
