Pupils get training to promote road safety

The P6 and P7 pupils from 96 schools enjoyed a range of activities to introduce them to their new voluntary roles.

They will work with other pupils, teachers and parents over the school year to promote road safety by delivering presentations, running a variety of competitions, maintaining a noticeboard and delivering road safety campaigns.

During the events, the pupils saw a demonstration of Amey’s Trunk Road Incident Support Service vehicle, and there was also a presentation skills workshop by Allan’s Magic and a road safety games session.

Jo Glennie, assistant business manager in the Roads Service, said: “Our JRSOs play a very important role, raising awareness of road safety among the whole school community.

“The pupils volunteer to take on the role of JRSO, showing real commitment to making a difference so our training days give them information and support to achieve their goals during the year ahead.”
