Elyse will be queen for a very special day

The Baird Memorial Primary pupil has been chosen as this year's Condorrat Gala Queen.

The Gala Day is the highlight of Condorrat's social calendar and will take place this year on Saturday, May 29.

Representatives from the area's other primary schools will be join Elyse soon be selected to act as her princesses.

Councillor Danny Carrigan, gala committee chairman, said: ''We are extremely grateful to all the schools in Condorrat, Westfield and Eastfield who are very supportive of the event.

''I am still keen to hear from organisations who wish stalls and other local organisations who wish to join our procession to add a bit of colour.''

Following a procession through the village, the Gala Day will get underway in the grounds of St Maurice's High School from 1pm.
