A project which encourages people with a learning disability to access social activities has proven to be a success.
ENABLE Scotland’s GetINTO project supports people who have a learning disability to enjoy their chosen pursuit alongside those with similar interests, and those taking part are able to develop new skills and forge friendships.
In Cumbernauld, a drama class is running as part of the project every Friday at the Link Community Centre while football fanatics are getting together every Thursday evening at the Hat-Trix Soccer Complex for five-a-side.
Gerry Burke, of ENABLE Scotland, said: “We believed that the best thing to do in order to meet demand was to set up a project that supports people to do the things that interest them. We heard from people that they want to do fun things, with people that they get on with, in their own communities.”
