Cumbernauld retail park court action confirmed

Town Centre owners are all set for their day in court after a date was named for the process that aims to block the construction of a new retail park at Broadwood.

The hearing will begin at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Tuesday May 9 and is expected to last for two days.

Last year, the plan for the retail park was passed by North Lanarkshire Council and shoppers had every expectation that stores like Aldi and Simply Food plus Starbucks Drive In would be coming to the area.

However, Gatehouse Property Management and London and Regional Properties are acting on behalf of centre owners Hamcap and the Antonine Centre to block the move.

Both argue that the application was flawed as the project was much bigger than planners were led to believe.
