Bluebell Walk in Cumbernauld Village has been beset by foul smells as muddied and contaminated water streams down from woodland onto Old Glasgow Road.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “We would like to apologise to customers affected while we have been working to resolve a complicated sewer choke.

“The blockage is situated in a difficult to access part of the sewer. We have tried a variety of methods to clear the problem, but those have so far proved unsuccessful.’’
