Fabulous flotilla at Auchinstarry canal basin

LAST weekend saw the largest flotilla ever seen on the Forth and Clyde Canal sail to Falkirk from the Auchinstarry Marina to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Forth and Clyde Canal’s reopening.

Around 80 vessels, ranging from barges to mini steamers and caravan/boat hybrids sailed the lowland canals to celebrate the Millennium Link Project that reopened Scotland’s once-disused waterways.

The travellers left Spiers Wharf in Glasgow on Friday and arrived at Falkirk on Sunday, stopping at Auchinstarry and Kirkintilloch along the way.
