Family fury at hit-and-run

Ross Tomlinson (12) suffered a slight injury to his elbow 
after he and fellow pupils at St Ninian’s High School were hit by the car outside Tesco store in Kirkintilloch.

His dad Alexander said: “It was at lunchtime on Tuesday, May 3.

“The four boys had started to cross after the car passed. Then, as they were crossing, the car reversed and hit them.

“The driver probably spotted a parking place and wanted to grab it.

“I’m so angry. She apparently just shouted ‘sorry boys’ and then took off.

“Ross said she didn’t even bother to get out of the car and see if they were all ok.”

Mr Tomlinson said 
although the four boys were shaken by the incident, they all went back to school that 
afternoon.

When Ross, a first-year 
pupil at St Ninian’s , came home that night and told his parents what happened, they took him to Stobhill Hospital to be checked out.

Mr Tomlinson said: “Ross was complaining of a sore 
elbow . We took him to hospital and he got it x-rayed. He had some soft tissue damage.”

He added: “None of the boys were seriously injured but it could have been much worse.

“We reported the incident to the police. All we know is that a woman was driving and it was a silver or grey car.”

A police spokesperson at Kirkintilloch said their inquiries were continuing and anyone with information should contact them on 101.
