John’s talent was such that he was able to take in singers of mixed vocal skills and mould them into a very capable choir.

At the same time he made it his policy to make sure that everyone enjoyed the weekly rehearsals and also the many concerts the choir gave in village halls and church halls throughout central Scotland.

At its peak, the choir had almost fifty members, and its annual concerts in Cumbernauld in the month of May were attended by large and enthusiastic audiences.

One of the last projects John organised with the male voice choir was a concert with choirs from all the local primary schools which was held in Kildrum Parish Church in the spring of 2013 and again in 2014, which were hugely popular with the young singers and their families.

John’s beloved wife Lynette had been a music teacher at Cumbernauld High school, and he was the loving father of children Colin and Pam and grandfather to Beth and Murray.
