Future is bright at stadium

The future star of Wimbledon could be honed in this area after NL Leisure revealed its ambitious plans to make Cumbernauld the home of sport in North Lanarkshire.

The News and Chronicle met with key figures at NL Leisure – including chief executive Blane Dodds, business development manager Stuart Gallacher and chairman Jim Logue – this week to hear about the plans for Broadwood Stadium.

NL Leisure hope to open up tennis courts at the site and are in discussions with Judy Murray, mum of tennis star Andy Murray, to attend an official opening.

The plans, however, do not stop there as the charity is moving their headquarters from Coatbridge’s Time Capsule to Broadwood Stadium.
