Gardens yield charity cash

Last month, two properties in Kilsyth’s Allanfauld Road – Aeolia and Blackmill – played host to the open day which was part of the Scotland’s Gardens Scheme.

And not even unseasonal weather could stem the flow of donations. For more than £1460 was handed over by visitors who were delighted by the flora and fauna on display.

Aeolia’s Fiona Murdoch said: “As in previous years, 60 per cent of the money will go towards beneficiaries of the SGS and 40 per cent will be donated to Strathcarron Hospice.”

She added: “Many thanks to everyone who came out with their brollies and supported this worthwhile cause - and thanks also to the family, friends and neighbours whose help and support during the year is greatly appreciated.”

Scotland’s Gardens Scheme was set up in 1931 to support the training and pensions of district nurses.
