Give us your unwanted gifts

That’s according to research by British Heart Foundation Scotland shops as the charity – which has an outlet at 2 Teviot Way in Cumbernauld centre – launched its annual Unwanted Gifts Appeal.

More than a quarter of those surveyed said the present they least wanted was Little Mix’s “Cannonball”. Other unpopular choices included saucy underwear, musical ties, a digital photo frame, a foot spa and novelty slippers.

But BHF Scotland loves the gifts others don’t – any unwanted presents provide valuable stock for its network of more than 60 shops.

Last Christmas the charity’s shops welcomed a surge in donations of candles, diaries, toiletries, pyjamas and festive ornaments. Across the UK, BHF Shops sell over 80,000 items a day so these donations are crucial.

Carol Neaves, regional manager for BHF Scotland Shops, said: “People often receive perfectly good presents that are simply not to their taste, are the wrong size, or they may have been given two of the same item. Whether it’s a dress that doesn’t fit, a CD that’s not to your liking, or a book you’ve already read, your donations mean a great deal to people living with heart disease in Scotland.”

BHF Scotland furniture and electrical stores also provide a great new home for any unwanted furniture or electrical items. TVs, hi-fis, sofas and dining sets are all sought-after items and a free collection service can be booked online.
