Green scheme worth up to £6000

That is the message from the National Insulation Association (NIA) following the Scottish Government’s launch of a new Green Homes Cashback Scheme.

The system aims to bring energy efficiency measures within the reach of ordinary householders, and is a relaunch of an existing scheme which stalled last year pending re-evaluation.

Some North Lanarkshire householders were reportedly left waiting for news of promised upgrades while firms sought clarification of when the revised system would be up and running.

Now the scheme is operational the NIA is among bodies keen to get the word out that grant cash can be available for work many householders could otherwise find prohibitively expensive.

Under the new phase of Green Homes Cashback Scottish householders can apply for three quarters of the cost of SolidWall Insulation, to a maximum of £6,000, and up to £1,200 for a range of other recommended energy efficiency measures.

NIA chief executive Neil Marshall said: “We welcome this new cashback scheme, which makes home insulation even more affordable, and we are urging householders in Scotland to contact their local NIA member to find out if their home requires additional insulation and for details of the Green Homes Cashback scheme.”

Loft Insulation is said to save up to £250 per year, while draught-proofing to windows and doors is said to be capable of saving between £35 and £50 per year.
