The Post Office is planning to relocate its Abronhill branch, amid promises the move would bring increased opening hours and other benefits.
The branch is currently located in Pine Road, but would be incorporated into the SPAR shop in Larch Road if the plan went ahead.
The new location would see an open-plan till at the shop counter offering Post Office products and services. This would be open seven days a week, 7am-10pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 10pm on Sundays – an increase of over 31 hours a week.
Douglas Heed, Post Office Manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services in the future.”
A public consultation is in progress until July 13. Responses should be sent by Freepost to Post Office Ltd, e-mail or calling on 03457223344 or Textphone 03457223355.
