Council votes to support staff experiencing the menopause

North Lanarkshire Council has voted to develop a policy to ease the working lives of menopausal women employed by the local authority.

At the recent full council meeting a motion proposed by Councillor Lynne Anderson to introduce a new policy to provide appropriate support for women, who are experiencing menopause symptoms, was unanimously accepted.

“We are committed to ensuring that a policy should be introduced to positively impact on our female workforce, who are experiencing symptoms of the menopause.

“We note that following discussions with council officers there are plans for further actions on the issue of the menopause by the local authority and welcome the future work which is to be carried out including awareness campaigns on this issue.”
