Help shape the future of Kilsyth’s town centre

North Lanarkshire Council wants the opinions of businesses, residents and visitors on how best to develop the area.

The local authority will use the responses to help develop a new town centre framework and action plan, which will guide its change and management over the next five to 10 years.

The council say the action plan will address a wide range of issues, including the design quality of the town centre and its public spaces, accessibility and circulation in and around the town centre, development and diversification opportunities, as well as management, business support, marketing and promotion.

Surveys will be issued to businesses and a standpoint survey terminal will be located within various facilities in the town centre for the next four weeks starting from Monday, March 18.

The first location will be Kilsyth Library followed by the swimming pool, community police office and Kilsyth First Stop Shop.

The businesses and residents surveys can both be completed online at www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/kilsyth until Friday, May 10.

Councillor James Coyle, convener of the planning and transportation committee, said: “Our town centres are vital to the well-being of local communities and the economy, so we want to give them a bright future.

“To help us achieve that, we need the views of the people who use our town centres. We want your opinions of what is good and bad in the town centre, what you use it for and when, how we support the town centre and what the main issues affecting it are.

“I hope businesses and residents will take a few minutes to complete the survey and help shape the future of Kilsyth town centre.”

The council also plans to hold drop in sessions between Monday, June 10 and Saturday, June 15 where the public and local businesses are invited to drop in and give their views on the town centre and how it should be improved.
