How to turn your used Christmas cards into trees

Retail giants Marks and Spencer are collecting cards for the fifth year running – pledging to plant a tree for every 1,000 cards dropped into one of their stores - including those in the Strathkelvin Retail Park near Bishopbriggs, Milngavie and Bearsden.

Community Relations Manager Alexis Steadman said: “By simply popping into your local M&S and dropping your cards into the collection boxes, customers can help the Woodland Trust to turn unwanted waste into much needed trees and preserve the Uk’s wildlife habitats.

“We have set an ambitious target to collect and recycle more than six million Christmas cards so we can plant 6,000 trees.”

in the past five years the campaign has led to 32,000 trees being planted across the UK.

The collection bins will be in store until January 31.
