Inspector pleased with latest crime figures

Inspector Scott Jones, from Lanark Police Office, spoke to the Gazette after the figures showed reductions in violent crime, drunkeness and anti-social behaviour.

Inspector Jones said: “We pride ourselves in Clydesdale with the excellent relationship we have with members of our many and varied communities.

“The successes of the past year are illustrative of how beneficial that relationship is. Violent Crime, anti-social behaviour and public drunkeness continue on a downward trend due to excellent communication from members of our communities, their belief in what we do well, and meaningful proactivity by us, all of which impacts on these crime types.

“The past year has also seen a significant rise in the number of individuals being reported for drug dealing offences. “This is NOT due to more criminals choosing to deal in drugs, but is due to accurate intelligence being provided to us by the public and hard work on our part to allow us to arrest and report these individuals.”
