The 25-year-old came second his heat, behind fellow Scot Ross Murdoch who tendered a Games Record.
Calum Tait finished third in the heat to ensure a Scottish one-two-three finish in front of the home crowd.

Hide AdJamieson began his swimming career as a youngsters with Scotia Swimming Club, in Bishopbriggs.
Of all the heats, the three Scots were the fastest swimmers overall.
They will join English trio Andrew Willis, Adam Peaty and James Wilby in the final, along with Wales’ Rob Holderness and Australia’s Christian Sprenger.
The medal event is scheduled to begin at 9pm tonight.
