A CUMBERNAULD company is planning a multi-million pound upgrade that will bring new jobs to the area.

The major investment programme will also create 10 new jobs. Sales director Paul McCafferty said: "This investment marks an important milestone in the history of Highland and it is a move that will allow us to meet, and hopefully exceed, our plans for growth."

As well as redeveloping the galvanizing facility at Blairlinn Industrial Estate, the money will also be used to create the Scottish Centre of Excellence for Metal Coatings.

The expansion will be part-funded by Scottish Enterprise, which has awarded Highland 250,000 of Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) funding.

Lena Wilson, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, said: "Highland is a great example of a company which has developed an innovative, market-leading product and we are thrilled that this funding will enable the company to invest in its Scottish base and create new jobs for the west of Scotland."
