Just the job for new start Lauren

Lauren McDonald secured a job at Bannatynes Health Club in Stepps after taking part in the year long Project Search training course.

Project Search gives students the opportunity to experience what it’s like being at work, teaches them new skills and helps them understand the demands of the working world.

Students work five days per week at the employer’s premises, combining practical learning with classroom sessions.

The project involves North Lanarkshire Council, NHS Lanarkshire and SERCO and is currently based in Wishaw and Monklands General Hospitals, the locations where students gain their work experience.

And 25-year-old Lauren is one of the successful graduates as she was over-the-moon when she received a call from Jackie Adam, front of house manager at the health club in Cumbernauld Road, to tell her she had a successful interview for the post of domestic assistant.

Lauren said: “I couldn’t believe it and was so happy and I just wanted to tell everyone my news.

“Last year I was on Project Search at Monklands Hospital and one of my placements was in domestic services. “I really enjoyed this and knew I was good at it. This experience gave me the confidence to go for the job at Bannatynes Health Club.”
