The Cumbernauld area has had a long association with beauty pageants – which is set to continue with a local lass in the finals of Miss Scotland.
Katy McGlinchey (23), of Smithstone, is a finalist in this year’s competition, which will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow on August 26.
Katy said: “I’d never really been interested in pageants before, but decided to give it a go. I picked Miss Scotland as it’s more than just a beauty pageant, you have to work hard to support good causes as well.”
Miss Scotland hopefuls are encouraged to fundraise for charities and Katy selected Macmillan Cancer Support. She has already raised money by competing in Tough Mudder and will soon climb Ben Nevis.
