Kilsyth all lit up for Christmas

THERE was a very special visitor in Kilsyth on Saturday, and he certainly brought the Christmas spirit with him.

The Main Street was packed with excited youngsters as they awaited the arrival of the one and only Santa Claus.

Old Saint Nick took up residence in his grotto and listened attentively as young Kilsythians delivered their wishlists to him.

A short time later, Santa emerged from his humble abode and was joined by Councillor Jean Jones and Provost Tom Curley in switching on the Main Street Christmas lights, bathing the town centre in a warm, festive glow.

Angela Russell, Kilsyth town centre co-ordinator with Town Centre Activities, said: “It was a great day and was lovely to see the community come out to support their local town centre.

“There is a host of free activities in the coming weeks for people to enjoy and I hope the community continues to support the town centre businesses in the lead up to Christmas.”

The next event on the town centre’s festive calendar is a sports skills day, this Saturday, between 12pm and 4pm. Come along and get involved!
