The funding workshop on Monday, April 7 was a sell-out. Twenty-five representatives from 16 local organisations attended.

Ellen Archibald of North Lanarkshire Council and Colin Mackay of Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire gave detailed presentations followed by a panel discussion.

Both speakers distributed handouts and contact details and invited participants to contact them on detailed issues.

When asked if they had already been involved in funding applications, over half the participants raised thier hands.

Kilsyth and Villages folk are clearly a pretty savvy lot.

The meeting also heard of the Forum’s enthusiastic role in helping set up a Kelvin Valley and Falkirk leader group to apply for European rural funding for 2015-2020.

This is well advanced with meetings held in Grangemouth, Kirkintilloch, Falkirk and Kilsyth, resulting in a draft strategy and business plan.

The forum and Friends of the Kelvin Valley delegates are playing a leading role in bringing this additional funding to the area.

Thirty projects valued at about £1.5 million were obtained for the Kelvin Valley area (Banton through to Lennoxtown) in the last leader programme.

The next meeting will be the annual general meeting on Monday, June 2.
