Two Kilsyth army buddies have finally been reunited after going 60 years without seeing one another.
Tom Barrie and Billy Brown were both barely 20 when they embarked on their military careers. The pair met while training at Fort George and becam e fond friends.
After minimal training the pair were shipped out with their infantries. Tom set off with the Black Watch, while Billy joined the Cameron Highlanders.
Between them the pair were stationed in Korea, Edypt, Tripoli and Tobruk. Tom joked: “I’ve worked out that the only battle neither of us were in was the battle of Hastings!”
Billy, who now lives in Australia, was delighted to see Tom again; “It was great to meet up with Tom and reminisce about old times.”
