Kilsyth Town Twinning Association embark on charity sail

THEY may have only recently returned from their own excursion to France, but the members of the Kilsyth Town Twinning Association are already preparing for their role as hosts next year.

The group held a fundraising outing on Friday - sailing on a barge on the Forth and Clyde Canal from Auchinstarry to Wyndford.

The beautiful weather resulted in a great turnout, with a total of £227 being raised.

The money will be put towards organising a packed schedule when the association’s counterparts from the French town of Meulan visit Kilsyth next May.

Vice-President John Bauld said: “It was a great family evening and everyone really enjoyed it. We try to make things enjoyable for all ages and are always looking for people to get involved.”

A buffet was provided by Amy and Christian Bollore, Deborah Russell and the vice president himself. Chairperson Kay Thompson was the entertainment for the evening, playing many traditional songs on the guitar.

The group would like to thank everyone who got involved, especially the Forth and Clyde Canal Society who provided the barge for the evening. (111509)
