KNIFE crime has fallen to a 35-year low nationally, a trend that is matched in local figures.

In Cumbernauld and Kilsyth there was said to be a “significant decrease” in incidences of people being caught carrying blades.

A police spokesman said: ““These reductions have been achieved through targeting our resources in the right place at the right time.”
