Labour pair back new leader

LOCAL Labour Party politicians have given their reaction to the election of Ed Milliband as their new leader.

Neither Cathie Craigie MSP or Gregg McClymont MP voted for Ed Milliband, preferring his brother David, but nevertheless they say they look forward to the changes Ed will bring to the party.

MP Gregg McClymont said: " I voted for David, but my second choice would have been Ed. He's pretty radical - wants to move the party towards more social democratic lines.

"I will be very happy to support him. He is an excellent orator and gave quite an exciting speech when he won.

"In the last few years as New Labour we got a bit stuck on certain things, but Ed will change that."

MSP Cathie Craigie said: "I personally supported David Milliband, because he has that bit more experience than Ed, but for me it was always between the two of them.

"Ed is a young man who will certainly put his mark on the leadership. And while I voted for David, because he has that bit more experience, Ed will very quickly gain experience."
