Last call for Beautiful Scotland entries

KEEP Scotland Beautiful is calling on all interested groups to enter the 2011 Beautiful Scotland campaigns before the fast approaching deadline of Monday, May 2!

Entries have been flooding in for both the Beautiful Scotland main campaign and for the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ campaign, but it’s not too late for you to join in the fun too.

Beautiful Scotland is one of the biggest community environmental improvement campaign and award schemes in Scotland. For over 40 years it has been supporting the efforts of groups working to improve their local communities. The two campaigns – the main ‘Beautiful Scotland’ campaign and the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ campaign - reward groups not just for their gardening abilities but also for environmental responsibility and, very importantly, for getting members of the community involved in what they do.

Being involved in community gardening projects is a great way of getting out and keeping active, meeting new people and generally feeling part of your community. It also benefits the community as a whole, as neglected sites become cleaner and tidier and add to the amenities of the city, town or village.

If you want to make a difference to the environment around you, or just enjoy gardening, whatever the size of your local area or level of experience of your group, there is a place in one of Beautiful Scotland’s two campaigns for you! And it doesn’t matter what age you are either – one of the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ group organisers is over 90, and another is in their 20s!

Beautiful Scotland would like to invite YOU to join one of the Beautiful Scotland 2011 campaigns – Scotland needs more volunteer groups to help improve local communities, so check out the Beautiful Scotland website http://www.beautifulscotland.org/, and sign up by registering online TODAY!
