While some youngsters take this big change in their stride, others can find it a difficult time – along with their parents.

The transition from nursery to primary and from primary onto secondary school can be difficult, moving to a bigger school, leaving friends behind and being surrounded by older children. It can be a scary time and some children cope better with change than others.

Team CHAS needs you

Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is welcoming fitness fans of all ages to run the Cumbernauld 10k and family fun runs and join Team CHAS.

The event, which takes place on Sunday 22 September 2013 starting at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld, has a fantastic family 3k and children’s 1k event.

Local Cumbernauld resident and CHAS Fundraiser, Samantha Reilly said: “Running for CHAS is a great way of supporting the children and families who we help. I’d love to hear from anyone who fancies giving jogging and fundraising a go. Please help us and join Team CHAS today.”

By taking part, runners will be contributing to £9 million required every year to run Scotland’s only children’s hospice services at Robin House in Balloch, Rachel House in Kinross and the CHAS at Home service helping families in their own homes.
