Faith revival

Sir, – It was a great joy for us to be in Cumbernauld in April this year, as a follow up from our ‘Journey of the Christian Faith’ visit in the summer of 2008, that then took us from Stornoway to across Scotland, including Inverness, visiting 40 UK cities and towns finishing in London.

This was an act of proclamation to the Christian faith and we were able to share with many people that we met in busy shopping malls and through various radio stations and publications.

Our recent visit to Scotland took us initially to Cumbernauld and then Aberdeen, Inverness, Portree and Stornoway sharing again on radio stations. It was good to be able to meet up again with Bill Anderson, Revival FM, on Thursday, April 19 to be interviewed on his lunch time show. The reason for our visit to Scotland again was to share as to past Christian revivals that have taken place, including the Kilsyth area that experienced three revival in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and to also share the Christian faith.

It would be good if we could hear from your readers as to their recollections or thoughts as to past revivals in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and also across Scotland and whether ‘revival’ may return one day to Scotland. – Yours etc.,

School welcomed

Sir, – At last weeks’s Learning and Leisure Committee it was announced that Greenfaulds High School was the selection of North Lanarkshire Council for submission to the Scottish Government for funding for upgrade.

For many years Greenfaulds has been among the top three schools in North Lanarkshire for academic achievement and currently has the second highest school roll in the authority. Greenfaulds also has a wide range of non academic activities and its charity work is well known throughout Scotland and beyond.

I have frequently put forward the case for improvement of the fabric of the building and I am extremely pleased that this has now been recognised with this submission. I hope that the bid is successful and that Greenfaulds will have a building to match the aspirations of parents, staff and pupils. – Yours etc.,

RAF St Eval 1939—1959 – All ranks from RAF, WAAF and WRAF or next of kin who served at RAF St Eval are invited to join the RAF St Eval Coastal Command Association. We have two reunions every year, in April and September and two newsletters, in January and July.
