Lotto boosts for Cumbernauld projects

Cumbernauld-based projects are celebrating after winning a share of grants from the Big Lottery Fund through Awards for All and the Scottish Ethnic Communities Fund

A grant of £4,200 was awarded to start up cooking classes for men in the education centre in Cumbernauld while £8,645 was granted for sewing classes and library facility for ethnic minority women in the town.

Mohammed Ashraf (51), who represented the cooking classes for men project, said: “Traditionally in the South Asian culture it is the woman who used to do all the cooking but nowadays with many men and women both out at work it is so important that men learn to cook also.We are delighted to have won this award and want to thank Roshni for supporting us in applying.”
