Man at centre of police station drama named

THE man at the centre of Sunday night’s gun drama has been named as Michael John Stuart, of no fixed abode.

The 53-year-old appeared in private yesterday at Airdrie Sheriff Court, where he faced a string of charges.

These included possessing a loaded sawn-off shotgun with intent to endanger life, as well as charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

Stuart made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

He is due to make a further appearance within the next eight days.
