Marathon trek round Lanark valleys by Rachael’s friends

ON the same day the London Marathon was grabbing all the national television and newspaper coverage, a much smaller but just as heartfelt effort for charity was quietly going on in the countryside around Lanark.

And the 10-mile trek along the `Three Valleys’ route around the Clyde, Lee Estate and Mouse River, was probably just as arduous as the 26-mile jog going on that Sunday through the streets of London.

Those taking part were friends and family of 22-year-old Lanarkian Rachael Henderson of Weavers Walk, raising money for the Thistle Foundation charity whose help has been invaluable in the day-to-day life and development of the young woman with learning difficulties.
