Me and my teddy bear

All things cute and cuddly descended on the Antonine Shopping Centre in Cumbernauld recently for a Giant Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

The event was held to raise funds for the Cumbernauld-based organisation Watch Us Grow, and a total of £800 was collected

Watch Us Grow is a charity that sells organic vegetables, herbs and plants grown in its gardens at Palacerigg Country Park.

The charity provides a special environment for adults with additional support needs or with mental health problems and learning disabilities to develop new skills, confidence and self esteem.

The picnic encouraged youngsters to bring along their own teddy bear to the party and enter the Bear Necessities competition.

Judges were looking for the smallest, tallest, cutest and best dressed teddy bears.

Kids who did not have their own teddy bear were, however, not left out of the fun as they were able to adopt a new cuddly friend.

Other activities on the day which kept the kids entertained included a colouring competition, dance with the giant teddy bear, bear games, and a raffle.

A magician also came along and kept the party going entertaining everyone with their magic spells.

Everyone at Watch Us Grow wants to thank the staff at the Antonine Shopping Centre.
