POLICE are again appealing for residents to be vigilant after another bogus caller struck last week.
At 4pm on Friday, May 27, an 80-year-old female was victim of bogus workmen when 2 males attended at her door in Lilac Avenue, Abronhill, offering to carry out repairs to her roof. The males, who were of smart appearance, offered to carry out the repairs but took a sum of money and left without carrying out the work.
The two suspects are described as around 5’ 7”, 20-29 years-old with a Scottish accent, short dark brown hair with a dark lightweight jacket, shirt and denims, and around 5’, with short hair greying and dark coloured beard.
PC Kay Elliot, crime reduction officer for the area, advised residents not to hand over any cash until they are genuinely satisfied with the work carried out and encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activity in the area no matter how trivial it may seem to them.
