Mum bids to raise cash for sick son

A PLUCKY youngster from Cumbernauld is hoping kind-hearted residents will rally to his cause and help raise money to make an important safety adaptation at his home.

Four-year-old Kiran Hunter, of Lime Crescent, Abronhill, was born with cerebral palsy and needs constant care, with getting in and out of cars being a particular issue.

Mum Evonne wants to have a disabled parking bay created outside their home for Kiran to ensure getting him in and out of the car is much safer than it is at present.

Evonne explained: “My back garden leads on to the main road.

“There’s a lot of bushes and stuff separating us and the council have agreed to sell that area of ground to us.

“We want to use the land to build a parking space to it’s much safer to get Kiran to and from the car.

“At the moment, I’m having to take him out onto the main road to get him in the car and that’s really not good, it’s a busy route.”

Evonne has arranged a quiz night to try and raise money to help carry out the work.

The event will take place at Palacerigg Golf Club on Friday, February 25 at 7.30pm.

Evonne added: “We would be so grateful for any support anyone can give us.

People can either just come along on the night or give me a call to arrange tickets.

“If anyone can donate prizes or anything like that then all donations will be very gratefully received and put to good use!”

The maximum team size is six members and tickets cost £5.
